WHAT AGE GROUPS ARE AVAILABLE?
Our junior beginner golfers are grouped for lessons by the year they were born, as follows:
Our junior beginner golfers are grouped for lessons by the year they were born, as follows:
- Born in 2009 or older: At this age, our adult group lessons would be appropriate.
- Born in 2021 or younger: Hang on! Give them another year or two and we’ll be ready for them once they reach our minimum birth year.
DO NOT register your child outside of their birth year. Keeping the kids in the same age range allows our coaches to customize the program to similar aged kids, it gives our families the comfort and transparency of knowing what to expect in terms of other kids in the class when they register, and it helps to keep the kids engaged when they're with kids of similar ages.
Got two kids in two different age groups? We’ve scheduled lots of different age groups at various times each day, so with a little luck, you may be able to find your two age groups at or near the same time.
HOW BIG ARE THE CLASSES?
We maintain small class sizes, with a max 6:1 instructor ratio. Sessions require at least 4 participants to proceed. You will be notified and fees will be refunded in full if there is insufficient registration and a class cannot proceed.
WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS?
Yes, weather happens! Lessons are held rain or shine! Make sure to dress for the weather. In case of severe inclement weather (thunder or lightning), lessons will take place under cover or in our indoor training facility.
WHERE DO LESSONS TAKE PLACE?
On your first day, you’ll meet your child’s coach right outside the pro shop door. Lessons will take place mainly on the private driving range tee near the pro shop, the short game practice area and practice greens, and once in a while on the footgolf course and/or golf course. Your coach will let you know the location from week to week.
WHAT LESSON PLAN DO YOU USE?
We use the U.S. Kids Golf games-based learning method for our junior beginner lessons. Our lessons offer a balance of fun and learning by developing the fundamentals through experiential learning and fun games rather than rigid, formal instruction.
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
All participants must bring their own clubs. Rental or loaner clubs are not available. Balls and tees are provided. We recommend U.S. Kids Golf clubs, the only clubs made specifically for kids. You can order clubs directly from uskidsgolf.ca. As an alternative, inexpensive used clubs can often be found locally on Facebook Marketplace or Kijiji.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Every junior lesson participant will receive a free Brock Golf Course hat on day 1 of their lessons! Along with their hat, your junior should wear comfortable, weather appropriate clothing. Collared shirts are great for kids who like them, but definitely not required – a T-shirt is just fine. Footwear can be running shoes or golf shoes with soft spikes. Soccer cleats, baseball shoes, and metal spikes are not permitted to avoid damage to the greens. Don’t forget a water bottle, sunscreen and a positive attitude!
CAN PARENTS HELP?
Parents and guardians are welcome to stay on site during lessons. There’s seating in the restaurant and pro shop, outside on the patio, or you can bring a folding chair and watch the lesson from a distance. Please refrain from interfering with the lesson, unless the coach asks for assistance. Later in the season, lessons may take place on the footgolf course or golf course, and parents and guardians are asked to remain at the clubhouse and should not walk along with the lesson. This allows the coach to keep the kids engaged and minimize distractions, as well as for safety and insurance reasons. If your child is distracted or misbehaving, please try to direct their attention to their coach. Participants who are causing a disruption to others may be asked to sit out.
WHAT IF I HAVE TO MISS A LESSON?
There are no makeup lessons. If you need to miss a lesson, that’s ok, and it’s helpful if you can let your coach know if you’ll be away. Coaches will do their best to catch kids up during the following lesson if they’ve been absent.
IS THERE A WAIT LIST IF A CLASS IS FULL?
If your preferred class is sold out, your best bet is to see if the class is available on a different day. If not, you can email us at [email protected] to be added to a wait list. Make sure to include your junior’s first name and birth year, and the specific day/time of the class you wish to be waitlisted for. You will be contacted only if a space opens up.
CAN I GET A REFUND IF I NEED TO CANCEL?
We know life is full of surprises! And we also know that baseball, soccer and other sport schedules are often released later in the summer. If you decide to register for golf lessons while waiting to see what happens with another sport schedule, please remember that you are holding a spot that another family might like to use. If you need to cancel a registration, your fees may be refunded if requested via email to [email protected] more than 14 days prior to first lesson, and are subject to a $25 administration fee. Fees become non-refundable 14 days prior to first lesson.
DO YOU OFFER PRIVATE LESSONS?
For individual instruction, private lessons can be arranged. Click here to read about our amazing coaches and get in contact.
SOFT ICE CREAM CONES!
Occasionally our coaches like to treat our junior golfers to a free soft ice cream cone after a great lesson or for winning a contest. We recognize this may be a concern for families who manage dairy, gluten or other intolerances or allergies. Please alert your child’s coach if your child is unable to partake in the ice cream, and your child will be offered a substitute non-food item such as a small prize from our treasure chest.

LEVEL 2: JUNIOR INTERMEDIATE LEAGUE (7 weeks)
Juniors with golf experience who have decided they have a love for the game are invited to join our Intermediate Junior League. Upon arrival at the course each week, your child’s coach will sort the kids into small groups based on age and/or skill level, and will explain a plan for the day, such as a fun game or contest. Each group will then tee off, and the coach will float among the groups as they play their 9 holes, to discuss on-course golf strategy and etiquette and give a few tips. Throughout the 7 weeks, your junior golfer should see an improvement in their game as they have fun learning with other junior golfers. Pre-requisite: Your junior MUST be capable of playing 9 holes of golf independently. This is a league where the kids will be actively playing golf on the course. This is NOT an intensive lesson program.
Weekly timing: Please arrive at least 5 minutes early for group organization. Tee times are every 9 minutes starting at 4pm. 9 holes should last approximately 1.5 hours, with parent pick-up between 5:30 and 6pm. Limited to 16 participants. Minimum 12 participants required for league to proceed. Weekly 9 hole green fee included. $170 (discounted fee for 2025 junior members is $120)
